Dr Justin Sherwin – Peninsula Eye Centre & Australian Society of Ophthalmologists

Dr Justin Sherwin has recently joined the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists board, effective from 31 May 2024. And recently, in September 2023, he became the new Director of Peninsula Eye Centre, Mornington, previously under leadership of Dr Rick Wolfe who was sole director for more than 35 years. Dr Sherwin trained in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Oxford Eye Hospital. His clinical interests are cataract surgery, lens-based refractive surgery, glaucoma and retinal diseases. He also holds a PhD in Ophthalmic Epidemiology and Master of Surgery from the University of Cambridge, UK, and currently lectures in cataract and refractive surgery. He also practises at Bayside Eye Specialists, Brighton East and Vista Eyes Laser Centre, Elsternwick.

Chris Walters – HOYA

Chris Walters has been appointed as the new NSW Sales Consultant for HOYA, effective 29 April 2024. With a wealth of professional experience in optical sales and key account management, the company says his expertise aligned with its goals and vision. “Joining us with the aim of enhancing our sales department and contributing to the continued growth and success of HOYA Lens Australia, Chris brings unique skills and fresh insights that will greatly benefit both our team and our clients. He is looking forward to utilising his vast optical expertise in supporting and growing business for his NSW customers,” HOYA said.

Val Tosswill – Glaucoma Australia 

Glaucoma Australia has announced Senior Orthoptist Patient Educator Val Tosswill to provide support to patients and expand its SiGHTWiSE patient support program. She brings experience and expertise to Glaucoma Australia, with a career spanning private orthoptic practice, disability, rehabilitation, education, low vision, clinical research, ophthalmic practice, and practice management. As a former Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney in Orthoptics and a mentor for clinical orthoptic students, Toswill has also played a significant role in shaping the next generation of professionals in the field.
